Big Brother and the Holding Company-- along with bands like The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service – is considered one of the original, first wave of great psychedelic bands that came out of San Francisco in the summer of 1965.
The band launched the career of Janis Joplin and recorded the hit album "Cheap Thrills," cementing them as a part of rock music history. Their legacy as one of the great bands of the 1960s is secure. In their current live shows they perform original material as well as all of their legendary songs; “Piece of My Heart”, “Summertime”, “Ball and Chain”, “Bye Bye Baby” and more, as only the original creators of this music can.

Ian Dogole & Music Beyond are performing an Afrocentric tribute to the uplifting and spirited music of John Coltrane this Saturday at Mill Valley's Throckmorton Theatre.
The music of John Coltrane expresses a sound and quality that is infused with a relentless quest to uplift and touch the spirit. From his early collaborations with Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk, through his epic masterpiece “A Love Supreme,” and all the way to his final studio recording, “Expressions,” Trane’s journey was probing and titanic and forever altered the course of music, well beyond the parameters of what is called Jazz.

Ian Dogole and his world-class collaborators will present The Last Trane to Africa – an Afrocentric homage to John Coltrane. Utilizing an unusual array of African percussion instruments and other world percussion in concert with more traditional Jazz instruments such as piano, double bass and saxophones, attendees will enjoy a transcendent musical experience that intends to uplift the spirit and delight the senses.

Margaret Belton and her "Patsychords" are making their Sweetwater debut this Sunday. The talented Ms. Belton has been wowing audiences for years. She most recently created a variety cabaret show called "Lady Margaret & The Countrypolitans" which showcases a variety of her favorite rare and classic crooner torch style jazz, country and blues songs, comedic sketches and storytelling.
Now in its 10th year, "Today, Tomorrow & Forever" is a tribute of honor, story and song for the legendary singer Patsy Cline. It's not to be missed!
