Situated next to Creek Park in downtown San Anselmo, a sushi-slash-izakaya restaurant from Jukreewat (“Jackie”) Suthon (The Baan Thai) opened its doors in late 2024.

The streamlined interior, dressed in shades of white, grey and black, points all eyes to the plate. That’s where Shrimp Kakiage, Japanese Hambagu (no translation necessary) and more traditional sushi preparations like Hamachi Goma Aburi, Chriashi Don and a Kuro Nami Roll shine. And if you're craving an adult beverage, wine, beer and sake are available!
Kuro Nami was born from a deep passion and a touch of obsession for Japanese cuisine. What began as pure admiration for the art of sushi and the philosophy of Japanese cooking evolved into a mission: to create a restaurant that honors tradition while constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation.
The chefs blend time-honored techniques with modern creativity, creating dishes that feel both familiar and new. Every plate is a conversation between the past and the future, where precision meets play, and elegance meets energy.
