The secret little izakaya with the even smaller patio is secret no more. The petite restaurant, which counts a walk-up waitlist as its reservation system, landed on Michelin’s radar, earning Bib Gourmand designations in 2021 and 2022, and was recently included on the Top 25 Restaurants list from the San Francisco Chronicle.
You really can’t go wrong with the sushi – it is flavorful and fresh – but we prefer the izakaya-style dishes of smoked hamachi tataki, chicken karaage and grilled eggplant for their down-home flavors. Secret tip: if you don’t want to eat at 5pm when the waitlist opens, try 8pm or 8:30pm when the crowd thins a bit.
