Color and Shape by Marie Krajan

Founders’ Gallery

After a long career in as an Art Director at various well known New York City ad agencies, I moved to California where I’ve been endlessly inspired by the sun, landscape and lively art scene. I’ve participated in many exhibitions during my artistic career and lately have sought greater creative freedom through abstract expression.

For centuries, color has inspired philosophers, writers, scientists and more to consider its role in visual perception and its connection to shape.

Working with colors and shapes was an essential part of my professional life and it has become the most important part of my artistic endeavors as well.

In my work, I'm exploring different approaches to contemporary art through the medium of acrylic paints. I use acrylics of different consistencies to achieve different effects and styles from soft, watercolor-like feels to bold freewheeling flows to very controlled geometric designs. Using these effects, bright colors, and design-centric shapes, I create art that soars and explodes with color, giving the viewer a palpable sense of joy.

Fluid States byDrew Frazier

Donors’ Gallery

Fluid States invites viewers into a six-year exploration of transformation, where over 400 works are reimagined through layering and collage to reveal process as the art itself. Beginning with ink made from hand-collected oak galls, the work bridges natural alchemy and human experience, turning overlooked materials into something enduring.

Guided by flow, each piece emerges through a balance of control and surrender, as ink, water, and breath leave behind traces of movement and time. Rather than fixed meaning, these works offer an open space for reflection—an opportunity to recognize transformation as something lived, shared, and continuously unfolding.
