Dreams are the bridge between the rational world and the profound complexities of our subconscious. They offer a unique language – a form of storytelling – that allows us to process memories and the tensions of our current reality. Dreaming Through the Chaos invites the audience into this dreamscape, where intricate bird-like sculptures serve as guides through a surrealist realm of ambiguous meanings and tentative interpretations, fostering a deeper connection to our own internal narratives.

Lucie Dupuis is a Marin-based French-American sculptor whose work combines porcelain, stained glass, metal, and found objects. Her practice focuses on the dialogue between various materials, using unexpected juxtaposition to pull the viewer out of their comfort zone and invite them to forge their own personal meaning. Her studio residency at Art Works Downtown has provided the dedicated time and space needed to evolve these sculptures into a cohesive body of work.

Lucie Dupuis is the 2025–2026 Max Thelen Studio Resident Artist. The Fenwick Foundation generously funds the program in commemoration of Max Thelen Jr. The residency aims to support emerging artists by providing free studio space, exhibition opportunity, and exposure to the public for one year.
