Celebrate the power of music, art, and community at San Geronimo Valley Community Center’s International Day of Peace Art & Music Festival on Sunday, September 20.
This inspiring afternoon brings together artists, musicians, students, and community members for a colorful celebration of creativity, connection, and peace. The festivities kick off with a ceremonial blessing from Henry Frank, followed by an exciting lineup of live music and art experiences throughout the Community Center. One of the afternoon’s highlights is Orquestra de Reciclados de Cateura, the internationally acclaimed youth orchestra from Paraguay whose musicians perform on remarkable instruments handmade from materials recovered from a landfill. Their repertoire ranges from classical and Paraguayan music to Latin favorites, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, and more.
Also taking the stage is Enriching Lives Through Music (ELM), showcasing talented young musicians from its youth music education program. Closing out the festival is AgapéSoul, led by bassist, songwriter, and producer Darryl Anders, who has performed with Tower of Power and worked with legendary Meters drummer Zigaboo Modeliste. Expect an uplifting blend of soul, funk, jazz, and R&B centered around hope, healing, and connection.
Beyond the music, explore peace-inspired artwork from Lagunitas School students, see works from the William James Association’s Prison Arts Project, and watch GreenStitch Climate Action interns create a vibrant community chalk mural connecting environmental stewardship with world peace.
