Approachable and inspired fine dining is on the 10-course Chef’s Tasting Menu at Michelin-starred Madcap. Chef-owner Ron Siegel, his wife and their team have created a destination
restaurant in an intimate space right on Sir Francis Drake that has seen many incarnations over the years. The highly acclaimed chef is known for his Iron Chef win and for his considerable fine dining chops honed at some of the country’s finest restaurants including Daniel in New York City and The French Laundry. Siegel’s Tasting Menu is a bargain these days at $140 and showcases his exceptional talent and technique—his menus have decidedly Asian influences.
The Tasting Menu changes daily but look for items like this sample menu (partial): summer squash and cashew tortelloni in a lemongrass broth, shrimp, melon soup, and duck breast with black truffle panade, black cod, eggplant, dashi, and tomato…and many more tastes. For food lovers, the dining experience here is always a culinary adventure that is sure to surprise and delight. The menu does not include wine pairings, but putting your beverage choices in the hands of your professional server is the best way to go at this special gem of a restaurant.
