Even before Steve Jobs famously made a reservation here during a 2007-ish product demo, the perennial Michelin Bib Gourmand winner and top restaurant in any number of lists (Bay Area, sushi, Japanese, etc.) was beloved in the Bay Area. The restaurant’s attention to craft, seasonal sushi, innovative flavors, and balance between sushi and Pacific cuisine makes it a must-visit since it opened in 1986.

We almost always favor whatever is on the omakase menu but if you’ve never been, don’t miss the miso-glazed black cod and ikura chawanmushi. We urge you to make a reservation or risk the line.
