Calling all bioregional food lovers and culinary connoisseurs! Join us on Saturday, June 28th for an unforgettable seaweed and urchin foraging adventure during the magical minus tide, followed by a handcrafted seaside brunch.
Hosted by Rootless and Maria Finn—chef, author, expert forager, and founder of Flora & Fungi in Marin—this immersive experience dives into the practice of culinary conservation, celebrating the rich flavors and ecological importance of our coastline.
Together, we'll explore the vibrant intertidal zone of the southern Sonoma coast, foraging for wild seaweed and urchins while learning about their fascinating, interdependent relationship. Along the way, you'll gain hands-on experience with sustainable harvesting techniques, proper cleaning methods, and best practices for becoming a more mindful steward of our marine ecosystems. Of course, we’ll also touch on the medicinal benefits of key seaweed species as we gather, taste, and connect with the ocean’s bounty—culminating in a seaside brunch that reflects the beauty and resilience of this unique habitat.
