The Marin hills will be alive with the sound of music this month.

The beloved musical (made famous by the Julie Andrews movie) will be coming to Mill Valley's Throckmorton Theatre (May 13-15, 20-22, 27-29).

The Sound of Music is a tuneful, heartwarming story based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world's best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. When Maria, the tomboyish postulant at an Austrian abbey,  becomes a governess in the home of a widowed naval captain with seven children, she brings a new love of life and music into the family's world.
