Adoring fans swoon over any of crepes and the laminated dough pastries – butter, chocolate or almond croissant, just for starters. The avocado croissant toast with eggs and crème fraiche is an introduction to the local French chain for those who remain uninitiated.
But we like the salads at brunch, too. Marin’s eternal Chinese chicken salad is shaken up with rice noodles, daikon radish and hoisin plum vinaigrette, for example. Or go rogue and try the all-American turkey club. The mayo slather may just knock your socks off.
Don’t Miss: Croissant Egg Sandwich; Croque Monsieur; Crepes with Caramel Apples
Plate-sized pancakes in straight-up buttermilk, with chocolate chips or blueberries are just part of the appeal at this sunny spot. The Belgian waffle has a crispness to the crust, omelets have more veggies than a salad, and tofu scramble is fragrant with basil.
Although its just one, any dish can be made with a side of the house’s famous pancakes, even the huevos rancheros. Chef Tony Senehi knows many of his customers by name, too. Be sure and say hello next time you see him in the dining room.
Don’t Miss: Eggs Benedict; Pear Almond Pancake; Red Velvet Shake
Old-school charm pours out from this busy brunch spot on Bridgeway with the can’t miss lighthouse on the roof.
Though it’s called Alex’s Corned Beef Hash Special, the jalapeño-flecked, house made corned beef alongside three eggs is on the menu every day. We recommend it with a side of toast and mustard, the better to make a sandwich with, my dear. Hash browns comfortably cradle a 1/2 pound beef patty and two eggs while those seeking something lighter can choose a side of Danish meatballs with French fries. Vegetables are best served at lunch.
Don’t Miss: French Toast with Flambé Fruit; Norwegian Salmon Omelet, Two Eggs with Meatballs
We recommend stopping by on a weekday to avoid the weekend line,
especially on a sunny Sunday when the patio becomes a hotspot.
Don’t be deterred by the massive menu – it’s all good – but the biscuits and gravy and chicken-fried steak call to us. Regulars know to order the coffee shake alongside the usual cup of joe. Pair it with a Baja Benedict or a hamburger with all the fixings. It’s a satisfying way to start the day.
Don’t Miss: Hollywood Benedict, French Toast, Tuna Melt
Locals queue up for heaping plates of biscuits and gravy, cinnamon roll pancakes, and home made corned beef hash. Peruvian Pulled Pork Breakfast Plate, a Latin/Asian fusion dish of pork scented with lime, onion and cilantro before its piled atop a soft bun is one of those “only in Marin” experiences you have to try at least once.
The patio gets crowded on sunny weekend mornings – arrive early to avoid the wait.
Don’t Miss: Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, Tortilla Scram, Green Mile Smoothie
We are not above having pizza for breakfast, especially one topped with calabrese sausage (it’s zippy!) and preserved lemon pesto. Nor do we mind an Aperol spritz zhuzhed up with sparkling rosé and a dash of bitters. Stop in for the zeppole (Italian doughnuts with blueberry and lemon), or poached eggs over polenta enriched with mushrooms, thyme and pesto oil.
Traditionalists, don’t worry – there’s steak and eggs with salsa verde and a soft scramble oozing with burrata. Now that’s Italian!
Don’t Miss: Stone-ground Polenta, Zucchini Frittata, Spicy Sicilian Hash
