Marin's Finest Cocktails

Looking for a spirited spot for cocktails? Here are some of our favorite spots for good cheer and cheers!

Our Top Picks

Recommendation  #1
California Gold

Though the menu changes often, odds are you can get a Singapore SlingZombie or other tropical-inspired cocktail, individually handcrafted with produce sourced from local farms and bespoke ice. Golden Hour (every day until 6pm) and their Reverse Golden Hour (10pm - Close) brings out the Boilermakers where the house pairs calvados and a draft Belgian ale and other thoughtful combinations. We could go on and on about the interesting cocktails and global wine and beer selection but that would leave almost no space to tell you about the red tufted chairs at the bar and cozy banquette seating under a pressed tin ceiling, or the oil lamps and fixtures that hearken back to an earlier era in California history.

Pro-tip: Although they don't have a kitchen, guests are allowed to bring in outside food.

Don’t Miss: Lion’s Tail, Cask Boulevardier, El Diablo

Recommendation #2
Copita Tequileria y Comida

With a full page of tequilas (blanco, reposado, añejo and extra añejo) and mezcals, it is easy to get lost for an evening in the nuances of agave plants, smoke and regional Mexican flavor. That’s ok, because you should get the house margarita anyway. It’s made with lime and agave and is as warming as the Mexican sun in winter. We love pairing our libations with the Chicken Tinga Tacos. And you can’t go wrong with Ceviche or the Quesabirria (made with lamb served with a spicy, sesame-flecked salsa).

Don't Miss: Pomegranate Margarita, Strawberry Margarita, Dragon's Tongue

Recommendation #3
The Bungalow Kitchen by Michael Mina

We're always a sucker for tasty booze with beautiful views. And the Bungalow Kitchen boasts both. Although mostly known for their gourmet cuisine, we think their cocktails might be the star of the menu. We fell hard for an Everybody Loves My Baby with six-year rye, sassafras and ginger – yum.

There are two Milk Punches on the menu, one piqued with matcha, the other with ube horchata coconut. Both are available by the glass, a lovely warm-up on a chill winter’s night.

The views over San Francisco Bay are even sweeter from the second floor where a DJ spins records Fridays and Saturdays and a late-night menu (crispy fish sandwich, short rib potato skins, etc.) are available until midnight.

Don’t Miss: Steady As She Goes, Penicillin, Espresso Martini, What a Peach

Recommendation #4
The Speakeasy

No matter when you dine, the vibe of this bar adjoining the Boardroom restaurant is equal parts spunky and moody, the black pressed tin ceiling glinting gold from the table lanterns. Signature cocktails include a Bees Knees and a Chairman of the Board, which pairs nicely with the retro-fabulous vibe.

During their daily Happy Hour (3pm -6:30pm), six buffalo chicken wings are twelve smackeroos and margaritas are $10. You can go fancy, too – the surf ‘n turf is $17 and a plate of escargot is $8, a great reason to lean into the early bird special.

Recommendation #5
Nick's Cove

There’s something oh-so Marin about sitting at the long bar (it stretches the length of the room), sunlight cascading off the waters of Tomales Bay, and a Marshall Manhattan in your hand. It’s made with East Brothers Oatmeal Stout Syrup and Lost Republic bourbon, a bewitching combination that adds to the sense of this West Marin place. There’s seasonal cocktails and local beer on tap, too. To eat, Nick’s BBQ oysters are a must and the updated menu from chef Chris Cosentino (a Top Chef Masters winner) features steak frites with Marin’s own Flannery beef.

Don’t Miss: Bloody Mary, Barrel-aged Boulevardier, Marshall Manhattan
