Casa Mañana

Casa Mañana, Marin's oldest family-owned Mexican restaurant, has just opened a second location on San Rafael's 4th Street.

The authentic Mexican and Salvadorian menu features recipes from the owner's mom. Everything here is served fresh. Nothing comes out of a can. They only use free range chicken and they never use lard in their beans. Recommended dishes include the Vegetarian Enchilada Vallarta (filled with plantains covered in mole), the Pork Fajitas, and the Green Carnitas Enchilada.

Recommendation #3

Waldscraft began as a drive-by bakery a year ago in Stacey Waldspurger's Mill Valley house. Powered by the supportive community, her little bakery soon outgrew the family kitchen and has now landed in its new home - the historic space at 17 Madrona St. in Mill Valley (formerly Bootjack Wood Fired).

The Waldscraft team is currently hard at work creating a menu of finely crafted food from organic, local and seasonal ingredients. Their menu includes the pastriesbreads and baked goods that they have become known for, and will soon expand to offer salads, sandwiches, toasts and light plates.

Bliss

Bliss is Marin’s first (and only) soft-serve shop dedicated to Asian-inspired ice cream. Located at Novato's San Marin Plaza, guests can enjoy koi fish shaped ice cream cones filled with a twisted swirl of soft serve in the style of taiyaki, a traditional Japanese dessert.

Choose two flavors from an eclectic list, including: taro, ube, and matcha vanilla and have it served in a regular cone, a cup or in the open mouth of a fish waffle cone. Toppings include: mochi rice cakes, nuts, chocolate wafers, matcha powder, maraschino cherries, berries or mangoes, chocolate or caramel sauce, chocolate chips or other selections.
