The Lark Theater is hosting SIMPLY SAID - a spoken word series fashioned after NPR's "The Moth Radio Hour."

The SIMPLY SAID series is held every third Tuesday of the month and hosted by Corey Rosen. Each show features a lineup of experienced storytellers, blended with opportunities for audience members to put their name in “the hat” to tell their own story on the monthly theme. 

This month, Simply Said dives into the messy, funny, complicated world of “Innocence — stories about naivety, wonder, trust, firsts, last chances, hard lessons, beautiful misconceptions, guilty verdicts, and the moments that changed how you saw the world.

How it Works:

Stories must be 5 minutes or less, spoken aloud (not read), just plain-spoken word about something you have experienced personally. This is spontaneous with no auditions or rehearsals. If you wish to tell a story, you’ll have an opportunity to put your name in a hat!

Ground control to Marin! Starman SF is landing at Sweetwater this Saturday for a glitter-soaked celebration of the music, magic, and ever-changing genius of David Bowie.

One of the Bay Area’s most exciting Bowie tribute bands, Starman SF takes audiences on a journey through the many eras of the Thin White Duke — from the glam-rock swagger of Ziggy Stardust to the soulful grooves of Young Americans, the anthemic power of Heroes, and the dance-floor energy of Let’s Dance. Expect a high-energy, theatrical show packed with Bowie favorites including “Space Oddity,” “Fame,” “Suffragette City,” “Heroes,” “Let’s Dance,” and plenty more.

Fronted by actor-musician Cody Craven, Starman SF brings together an all-star group of Bay Area musicians for a show that’s part rock concert, part dance party, and one big love letter to Bowie.

Dale Watson and His Lone Stars headline HopMonk's Cookout Concert Series this Sunday.

Dale Watson is a true living legend of honky-tonk, outlaw country, western swing, and rockabilly — a singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer, actor, and cultural architect who has spent four decades championing American roots music traditions. His signature sound, dubbed 'Ameripolitan,' is as authentic as it gets, and his latest album 'Unwanted' delivers a double-barreled shotgun blast of country twang and honky-tonk bang. The all-ages show is held mostly standing on ground level, with limited seating on the lawn and top of the hill.

Get ready for a Sunday afternoon of ska, soul, BBQ, and dancing on the lawn as Soul Ska takes over Rancho Nicasio with special guests Beso Negro!

One of the Bay Area’s favorite ska and rocksteady bands, Soul Ska has been packing dance floors since 2014 with an infectious mix of Jamaican first-wave ska, British second-wave influences, soulful vocal harmonies, and a powerhouse horn section. The eight-piece collective features veteran musicians from some of Northern California’s most beloved bands, including Vinyl, Stymie & the Pimp Jones Love Orchestra, The Right Time, Albino!, El Radio Fantastique, and the Jethro Jeremiah Band.

Add the fiery, high-energy sounds of Beso Negro, and plenty of BBQ, and you’ve got all the ingredients for a perfect summer Sunday in West Marin. Bring your dancing shoes and settle in for an afternoon of irresistible rhythms under the sun.

Marin Theatre Company (MTC) presents White Chip, a sobering comedy of errors (August 27 - September 20).

Success seems to come easily to Steven McAlister. Charismatic and constantly in motion, he’s built a life that looks enviable from the outside — complete with a dream job at a prestigious theatre. But from his very first drink at 12, it’s clear he has been lying to himself for years. Equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking, this “recovery comedy” unfolds from Steven’s own disarmingly candid and charmingly funny perspective. Named for the tokens given in Alcoholics Anonymous to mark the beginning of sobriety, The White Chip follows Steven as he barrels through the highs, lows, and spectacular missteps of addiction, telling a story about the courage to start over, one day at a time. Marin Artistic Director Lance Gardner helms this production.
